Kobudo seminar with Dometrich Sensei on July 20th!

We had a great full day of training with Sensei covering sai, bo, and nunchaku! Testing was held after training for 4 CMAC candidates, then we all went out for Chinese food! Sensei brought a special guest, Miwa San, a student of Akamine Sensei in Okinawa! She has known Miwa San since she was 2 years old and Miwa San’s father trained at the dojo with Dometrich Sensei in Okinawa!

We started with sai basics then covered the first 3 sai katas. Chikin Shitahaku no sai, Chatan Yara no sai, and Hama Higa no sai! After bo basics we covered Shushi no kon sho, then nunchaku basics and Maezato no nunchaku! We also had a nice history lesson during one of our breaks! Andrew Wright, Joe Kelly, and Marc Mitzner all tested for various kyu ranks(below black belt) and passed! Bill Harmon tested and passed for Sandan(3rd degree)! Congratulations to all who tested and thank you to all who came out to support and train with Dometrich Sensei! We had Shito-ryu, 2 styles of Shorin-ryu, Isshin-ryu, Shotokan and Taekwondo all represented and training together, kobudo definitely brings the styles together! Thank you so much Sensei!!!
