Student of the month for October 2019!
Congratulations to Andrew Wright, our student of the month for October 2019! Andrew is 42 years old and has been in the martial arts since 1984, he was seven years old. He started training with Sensei Gurganus in 1984 at another dojo, CMAC was founded in 1991 and Andrew trained there from 1993-1997. He then studied Shuri-ryu with Mike Hernandez in Atlanta, GA from 2009-2015. He came back to CMAC in 2015! Andrew works as a accountant for a software company in RTP! Andrew’s mom started him in martial arts because he was small and she thought that he might be bullied! Andrew’s mom and sister are also black belts! Andrews favorite part of training is figuring out how science and physics help our technique, making them more efficient and effective! His favorite food is Indian, he likes it spicy! Outside of the martial arts he enjoys cooking, camping/hiking, playing the viola, woodworking and playing games with his two boys! His advise is never just go through the motions, put your whole mind and body into each technique! Think about if you could be doing something better and think that Sensei is watching you for every repetition and always give your best effort! Andrew holds ranks in karate, jujitsu, and kobudo. He is always up to help Sensei demonstrate a technique in class!
