Akamine, Eisuke Embu Taikai in Satellite Beach, Florida!
On Jan. 13th, 2024, we attended the Akamine, Eisuke Embu Taikai memorial training in Satellite Beach, Florida! January 13th, 2024 marked the 25th year that Akamine, Eisuke Sensei passed. It is tradition in Okinawan culture to celebrate his contribution to kobudo on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 13th, 25th and 33rd years after his passing. This guarantees he will be remembered for the 3 more generations! He was the successor to Taira Shinken(the founder of our kobudo association) from 1970 thru 1999. As my teacher’s teacher, you would be a great grand child to him and a great, great to Taira in the raw historical lineage! Participants came from N.C., Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, New York and Ohio, along with Indiana, New Jersey, N.C., Germany, and Canada on ZOOM. Training covered tonfa, bo, and sai basics, with kata and then bo tai sai partner training! Sunday morning we covered sandan(3rd degree) testing material and tested one individual for sandan! Great training weekend and great people!
